The classic Parlour guitar is traditionally nylon string but performs very well with steel strings. For musicians who are strummers looking for that big driving rhythm sound, the jumbo is a power house instrument. The set up determines the performance of any instrument, I can set the action for slide guitar or fast finger styles. If you're recording or playing live they perform well and have great projection. The Jumbo in its various forms is one of the most popular guitars I build. There are many possibilities.ģ sizes : mini - medium - large. I can vary the body depth, make cutaways or double cutaways, the neck width can be wide or narrow with a long or short scale neck. I have over 14 different templates I use to form the basic body shape of my flat top guitars, this is just a starting point. ![]() The double brace offers a tight sound, more suited to a skilled player with a talent for fast picking. The basic difference is the Maggini is wider and longer and can be difficult to play if you are more accustomed to the Viol Double Bass.Īcoustic bass guitars have a sound similar to, yet distinct from, the double bass. Either style can be made with a carved or flat back. I craft two styles of double bass, the Maggini and the Viol, the Viol has sloping shoulders.
